What Your KUCCPS Admission Letter Actually Says — Reading It Line by Line
Most students download the admission letter, see their name and university, screenshot it for WhatsApp, and close the document.
They miss everything that matters.
Your admission letter contains critical information that will affect your first weeks on campus. Here is how to read it properly.
Your personal details
Full name. KCSE index number. National ID or birth certificate number. Check every detail. If anything is wrong, report it to KUCCPS immediately through the portal. A wrong name causes serious problems when you try to access funding or register at the institution.
Your institution and programme
The full name of the university or TVET college. The exact name of your programme. The programme code. Confirm this matches what you applied for. The programme code is especially important if you plan to apply for a transfer.
Your cluster points and cut off
Your letter shows the cluster points used for your placement and the cut off for your programme. This tells you how you qualified. It also tells you what you need to meet if you are applying for a transfer to a different course.
Reporting date
Your letter indicates when you are expected to report to the institution. Mark this date. Missing it without communication to the institution can complicate your admission.
Fees and funding information
Some letters include an indication of the fees structure and what portion the household is expected to contribute. This figure is based on your funding band from the HEF assessment. Do not panic if the number looks high. Your HELB loan and scholarship cover a significant portion.
What to do after reading it
Save a digital copy. Print a physical copy. Keep both safe. You will need this document on reporting day alongside your original KCSE certificate, ID, and birth certificate.
